Zooarchaeologist | Anthropologist | Digital Scholar

About

My name is Autumn Painter, I am a doctoral student at Michigan State University in the Department of Anthropology. My research focuses on prehistoric foodways through the analysis of animal bones in the Midwestern United States. I am also the current Campus Archaeologist for Michigan State University.

  • Archaeological Beginnings

As an elementary student in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, I attended the Youth Archaeology Workshop hosted by the Hiawatha National Forest and Illinois State University. This program provided me hands-on archaeological experience that initiated my passion for the subject and has led me to this field.
